  Sew with a friend and see how fast your quilt tops comes together.

  Cutting and pressing stations will be available.

  Supply List:

  • Sewing machine in good working order 
  • Standard sewing tools
  • Square ruler to trim your blocks to the finished size
  • Rotary cutter, small cutting mat for your table (optional)

  In addition to your sewing supplies, bring your lunch and/or snacks to share if you feel so inclined.

  Holiday Party and the celebration of a very busy year.  The luncheon will be catered by Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Que; along with gift exchanges, block exchanges, scholarship awards, and games!  Details below.

  • Gift Exchange: Bring a $10-$15 gift if you wish to participate,

  • Christmas Block: 12-1/2” unfinished block. Colors: Green, Red, and Cream.  Make two blocks, one for you to keep and one to exchange

  • Scholarships Awarded: 2-scholarships $300/each, winners must let Holly know by March 30 if they will NOT be able to use the scholarship so it can be passed to an alternate.

  You are invited to attend the Academy of Applique in historic Williamsburg, March 2 – March 7, 2026. This event immediately follows the Mid Atlantic Quilt Show (February 26 – March 1, 2026).

  The Academy offers classes catering to the beginner, intermediate and advanced stitcher. All types of appliqué are taught from wool to needle turn, back basting to Hawaiian, broderie perse to freezer paper. Each appliqué journey begins with a single step-and where better to begin than at the world- renowned Kingsmill Resort with surroundings sure to inspire! Spend a week with old friends and make some new ones along the way.   National Quilting Day

  The day originated from a "Quilter's Day Out" in 1989, organized by the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society. The event was a success, and participating quilters decided to make it a national event. The first National Quilting Day was celebrated in 1992.
  

  Here are some ways to celebrate National Quilting Day:

  • Label your quilts

    Put a simple cotton label on one or more of your quilts to preserve their story. 

  • Hang your quilts

    Hang your quilts outside to educate and inspire others to celebrate quilting. 

  • Teach others

    Share your quilting skills by teaching a simple quilt project to friends, family, neighbors, schools, or a youth group. 

  • Make a quilt for a cause

    Work on a quilt for a local or national cause, or check with local departments and facilities to see if they need quilts. 

  • Organize a quilt history day

  Join us on March 28, 2026, at On the Rocks Restaurant, Atlantic Beach (across from Doubletree) for a day of fun, food, party favors, door prizes, Challenge quilt display and awards, and quilts, quilts, and more quilts.

  Guest Speaker: Betsy Mercer will present “The American Journey of My Family Quilt”
  

  “Postage Stamp” Day of Sharing Challenge is open to all attendees. One entry per attendee; Winners selected by Viewer’s Choice.  Quilt perimeter MUST be no smaller than 56” and no larger than 80" in any shape; with perforations on the project.  Challenge instructions are available here.  Bring your project the morning of Day of Sharing.  Awesome prizes to be awarded!

  Show and Tell will be limited to ONE item only per person.  Please provide a brief description of your item on a 3"x5" index card.  Index cards will be available at check-in.

  Raffle Quilts and ticket sales will be permitted.  Please include your request with registration to ensure a table and chair will be available for your use.

  Registration is $15 and includes continental breakfast, plated lunch, and dessert. Deadline to register is March 21, 2026. 

  Doors open at 9:00AM.

  Celebration! is the premiere event of the Virginia Consortium of Quilters held every two years at the Skelton 4-H Education Center at Smith Mountain Lake. The theme is “Americana” celebrating the 250th birthday of America and the 50th anniversary of the modern-day quilt revival.

  This 4-day retreat and workshop brings together 150 quilters, eight teachers, sixteen classes, 2 lectures, a quilt challenge and show, plus contests, prizes, a silent auction and much more.  Registration includes overnight accommodations, classes, and much more.  This will be a grand weekend of quilting, eating, and lots of fun!
