Exploring creativity through quilting

Workshops

Workshops are a favorite benefit of CCQG membership.  Exposure to new techniques is inspiring.  You can meet a world-class textile/design instructor in a small in-person or virtual group setting.    You will leave energized from the creative and social workout.

Workshops for the  entire year are typically listed on the website in January and registration opens at that time.

Need to do some shopping for supplies for a class?  Check out the Resource page to locate a local retailer.

No workshops are held in June-August, and December.

Review the Workshop Policy before you register.

    Fabric Selection

This is a great time to dig into your scraps! Don’t worry about having the exact same fabrics as Laura - this is a chance to let your creativity shine. You need three types of fabric: main image, motifs, and background.

Blender fabrics work well for the main image. A contrasting fabric is needed for the background. You will also want fabrics with larger motifs such as flowers, starfish, dots - whatever! If this stresses you out, some kits are available at www.fiberworks-heine.com.

In addition to your sewing supplies, bring your lunch and/or snacks to share if you feel so inclined.

Applique 3 Ways with Audra Rasnake

Audra is a fourth-generation quilter and grew up literally underneath a quilt frame. She’s been hand quilting for 30 years and has been doing needleturn appliqué for 20 years. She considers herself a traditional quilter. She began teaching hand quilting, EPP, and needleturn appliqué about 10 years ago and then, in 2014, decided to enter the world of competition quilting. Audra has won many ribbons at national shows since then, many for her hand quilting. One of her greatest passions is folded cutwork. She uses appliqué in every quilt she does. Audra enjoys helping beginners overcome their fear of the dreaded “A” word.

This is a two-day workshop.  On Thursday, Audra will teach French Broderie in the morning and Needleturned Applique in the afternoon.  A day long workshop on Friday, will consist of creating a Celtic Applique piece.

    Supply list is to come.

In addition to your sewing supplies, bring your lunch and/or snacks to share if you feel so inclined.

Due to the cost of this talented and accomplished instructor, the price for this workshop includes 3 workshops over a 2-day period.  The fee cannot be divided.  You must pay the entire amount, in order to participate in one, two or all 3 workshops.

If you have any questions, please contact Chris P.
