Hero Quilts Project

The Guild makes and donates quilts to men and women veterans across the Nation in appreciation for their service and sacrifice, in addition to donating quilts to the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

During February 2023, two quilts were presented: One to Retired Navy Corpsman, Ray Smith, who served in Vietnam and the other to Francis Hayden, who served 22 years in the Marine Corps.

On Veteran's Day, November 11, 2021, with the assistance of the Swansboro Marine Corps League Detachment #1407, Darlene Tracy presented 11 Hero Quilts to the veterans living at The Landing of Swansboro Assisted Living Home.

One of the quilts presented was pieced by Virginia Amend and quilted by Kelly Arnett.
