Happy October, everyone! As we head into fall, I hope you are enjoying the change of season—and hopefully, a little more time to sew.
We have so much to look forward to this month. First, a huge thank you to everyone who supported our “Quilt Sundays” at Shepherd of the Sea. Our display runs through October 4th, so if you haven’t had a chance to visit, please stop by. We are also looking forward to the general take-down on Monday, October 5th.
October is also a big month for our Raffle Quilts! We are excited to hold the drawing for our 2026 Raffle Quilt this month, and we will also be revealing the beautiful 2027 Raffle Quilt. A special thank you to all our members who made the 2026 quilt a success; your dedication is truly appreciated.
As we move into October, I also want to remind everyone that this is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please take a moment this month to prioritize your health by performing your monthly self-examination. If you are comfortable, I encourage you to share the importance of early detection with your friends, family, and loved ones; your simple reminder could truly make a difference in someone's life.
Finally, I encourage you to visit the “Brown Bag” Row-by-Row Kids' Quilt Exhibit at the Core Sound Museum Gallery Store in Morehead City. It will be on display through December 29th, and it is a wonderful showcase of the creativity and hard work of our guild members.
Thank you all for everything you do to keep our guild vibrant and supportive. See you on the quilted side!
Warmly,
Lis Rechkemmer
