Join us for a Special Night with Claudia Martinez!

Claudia Martinez is as an avid crafter/maker/quilter/baker, who knows first-hand how much time and effort goes into handmade items. For many of us, creating is a form of self-expression as well as an important component of self-care. It is this knowledge that drives her passion for finding the highest quality supplies in order to make the process of creating as enjoyable as possible.

Claudia will be speaking about her journey from quilter to hand-stitcher with examples of her work throughout the years.  She will discuss how her love of embroidery, cross stitch and Sashiko resulted in her beginning her business and how the Snuggly Monkey has evolved over the past 15 years. Claudia will discuss her plans for the future and will give a tour of the shop.

Snuggly Monkey is a small, family-run business that has been proudly based in Durham, NC since 2011. Owner-operator, Claudia Martinez, combines more than 20 years of crafting experience with her passion for supporting others on their creative journey in order to thoughtfully curate a wide selection of exceptional supplies intended to make the process of crafting enjoyable and rewarding. By working directly with independent designers and other small family-run businesses whenever possible, Claudia ensures that the selection at Snuggly Monkey is both unique and supportive of the creative community.

Join us for a night of beautiful embroidery!

This presentation will be available both in person and via ZOOM.  An email with the link to join the meeting will be sent out the day before to everyone who is registered.

How to Select Colors from your Stash for Your Next Quilt

You will work through some simple practical Color exercises, using colored pencils, paper, & fabric scraps. The fundamentals of Color and Value will be reviewed and then applying to your fabrics. This is a fun class to apply all those principles we read about and see what happens when we play with color!

The goal is for you to understand how Color and Value can be used to help you turn your stash/scraps into a beautiful quilt or project. We hope to make at least 2 quilt squares in class.  Pattern will be provided.

Classroom will open at 8:45AM to set up your machines so the instructors can begin promptly at 9:00AM.
